Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you're considering therapy, that's already a sign that some part of you recognizes it might be helpful. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people find it valuable for managing stress, healing from past trauma, improving relationships, or developing better coping skills.

  • This is common, especially for trauma survivors and neurodivergent individuals. Traditional talk therapy often doesn't address trauma where it lives—in your nervous system. Brainspotting works differently by accessing the deeper parts of your brain where trauma is actually stored. Many clients who didn't benefit from previous therapy find Brainspotting effective.

  • That's what the free 15-minute consultation is for. We'll discuss your needs, my approach, and whether we're a good match. It's completely okay if we're not the right fit—I'd rather be honest about that upfront than have you invest time and money in therapy that doesn't serve you.

  • Both. I offer in-person sessions in Raleigh, NC, and virtual sessions throughout North Carolina. Many trauma survivors find virtual therapy more accessible, especially if leaving home feels difficult.

  • This varies for each person. Some clients experience significant relief in 3-6 sessions, while complex trauma may benefit from longer-term work. Brainspotting often works faster than traditional talk therapy because it accesses trauma more directly.

  • I currently accept Aetna insurance, which can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs. If you have different insurance, I can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Some clients also use HSA/FSA funds for therapy.

  • Yes. Everything you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (risk of harm to yourself or others, child/elder abuse, or if records are subpoenaed by court). I take your privacy seriously and follow all HIPAA regulations.

  • We can discuss this during your consultation. Sometimes what feels like an individual issue is actually a relationship pattern, and vice versa. I'll help you determine which approach makes most sense for your situation.

  • No. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), I provide therapy but don't prescribe medication. If medication might be helpful, I can provide referrals to psychiatrists or psychiatric nurse practitioners.

  • As a neurodivergent therapist, I understand firsthand what it's like to navigate a world not designed for how our brains work. My practice honors your authentic self—no masking required. I use approaches that work with your natural processing style rather than expecting you to think or communicate in neurotypical ways.
